There is one thing you should know ...

There is one thing you should know.

How I can still feel your eyes upon me, like stabbing knives cutting through my flesh and with every ripping apart of my skin, you bleeding out. How I can just stand like a rock and feel my soul flow out of me like an untamed river upon your looking. With no resistance offered, how every last drop of emotion you manage to drain out of me while I just stare back at you staring back at me.

Oh that look! soundless words, innumerable as the stars filling up the sky, long dead from the wait for them too shine upon mortal world and yet with that one glance you feel in every atom of your body, every minutest burst of energy that has caused it to traverse the universe before ending up in front of your gazing eyes. How helpless you leave me feeling with every touch of yours, like a million war being fought inside me. I lose. I win. I conquer and I am left defeated. With numerous kingdoms lost in me for battles fought with so much passion that it sets my blood on fire and I burn in soothing flames of you and in it I find my redemption.

Tyler Knott Gregson

Somewhere someone thinks they love someone else exactly like I love you.

Somewhere someone shakes from the ripple of a thousand butterflies inside a single stomach.

Somewhere someone is packing their bags to see the world with someone else.

Somewhere someone is reaching through the most terrifying few feet of space to hold the hand of someone else.

Somewhere someone is watching someone else’s chest rise and fall with the breath of slumber.

Somewhere someone is pouring ink like blood onto pages fighting to say the truth that has no words.

Somewhere someone is waiting patient but exhausted to just be with someone else.

Somewhere someone is opening their eyes to a sunrise in someplace they have never seen.

Somewhere someone is pulling out the petals, twisting the apple stem, picking up the heads up penny, rubbing the rabbits foot, knocking on wood, throwing coins into fountains, hunting for the only clover with only 4 leaves, skipping over the cracks, snapping the wishbone, crossing their fingers, blowing out the candles, sending dandelion seeds into the air, ushering eyelashes off their thumbs, finding the first star and waiting for 11:11 on their clock to spend their wishes on someone else.

Somewhere someone is saying goodbye but somewhere someone else is saying hello.

Somewhere someone is sharing their first or their last kiss with their or no longer their someone else.

Somewhere someone is wondering if how they feel is how the other they feels about them and if both theys could ever become a they together.

Somewhere someone is the decoder ring to all of the great mysteries of life for someone else.

Somewhere someone is the treasure map.

Somewhere someone thinks they love someone else exactly like I love you.

Somewhere someone
is wrong.

Heart beats ...

I still remember that first moment when suddenly, out of the blue I realized what you truly meant to me

That one glance and I knew the lengths I would go to keep you safe.

Memories they have become. Distant yet permanently etched in me. Coming back not in flashes, but rather staying like a constant wave, always there, flowing, sometimes even crashing so hard on the shore of my being that it sends out bittersweet slpashes of you all over, drowning me in you.

And everytime my heart beats, I feel you rise in me, a turbulent dance, with no calm and so much passion. Non submissive rage.

For it is then, through every single beat, that you are most active in the deepest of my soul, wholly anchored to you.

For it is then that I feel your presence. Like dim lights in the bright of day. Outshone. But every inch of me knows, it is into you I will fall lifelessly when the day has gone by...

One way road ...

It had been quite a while since they parted ways. With no goodbyes being said or without even a last hug or kiss, they just decided what was apparently right for them. On a one way road, they parted ways. With different lives thereafter and accomplishments of different magnitudes, with both minds going opposite directions. One lost in numbers while the other simply lost in the one lost in numbers. Both taking the road never travelled before. With the same fears and dripping hopes, knowing they were meant to travel the world together. See the universe together. Discover life together. And yet, willingly, reluctantly they flew solo, even with the realization that both had one side each of the same wing.
With firm handshakes and formal hugs, new friends were made. Old goals were set with new zeal. Daily routine lived differently everyday in a monotonous life. Old and new faces with familiar smiles and the constantly pricking emptiness within. Steady eyes looking for that one known face in the crowd. On one fine day, the intense search paid off with a rather unexpected crossing of paths. Everyone else around thought they were just regualr strangers at the same transit at the same time but they knew different. The long separated souls along this one crazy one way road. With no bothering to turn back for a second glance but a fixed angle from the corer of the eye; what would they say to each other after such a bewildering time? Hi? Two pathetic alphabets to cover up for all the unsaid thngs? Or maybe just two alphabets encompassing eveything within?
And once again, no word was said and hearts went cold, and these two souls once again parted ways on a one way road.

Travelers ...

There was something that day which told me “Go lose yourself”, and I did. I lost myself, on purpose, not knowing why, not questioning. I got lost and I travelled paths. Long, short, lost, found, lonely, crowded, intimate paths.  Paths that told me a thousand stories and paths to which I conveyed a million thoughts. All safe and secure.

There was no end to any road I traveled; in fact I am still travelling. Well, then again, aren't we all? Like lost ghosts, with pasts haunting us, with futures troubling us and with the present, so sweetly terrifying in its own way. Beholding everything that is changing us by the second, with every step we are taking. From the first cry till the last breath and all the heartbeats that fill up the bittersweet gap in between.

Meeting new ghosts at crossroads with their own stories, paths. Flowing with time. Souls lost in a maze trying to find our way out through every dead end. Finding a new self at every turn. Perceptions getting refreshed every second and thoughts like untamed horses. New horizons, new dimensions in a single maze. Hills, valleys and entire oceans to overcome, maybe alone, maybe together.

Trying to find the one soul who speaks the exact demon dialect you do. And the last whisper “Let’s get lost together”.

Winter Rain ...

It was a cold and chilly day, the day we met. Freezing temperatures. That one road traveled so many times with its birth and repairs and cracks and the many silent scars it bore. The numerous stories it was witness to, new beginnings and the many adieus it silently heard.

It was pouring hard, the drops like piercing needles with a painful numbness. It continued like that, monotonous and gloomy. That was when I heard her for the first time. So much life in that faint laughter, so much joy as if she had known so much pain that something so petty like the winter rain could make her so ecstatic.

Yeah, there she was. Smiling and laughing without any reason. Dancing in the rain. And the lighting danced along with her and thunder played the playlist and I stood there, hypnotized.
She was passionate about the rain, and I was passionate about the way she loved it. She was beautiful, like a volcano, erupting with joy, like a forest fire, with no confinement, she was the spark I yearned for.

Fate ...

They were kids when they first met in school. Young and innocent. They didn't talk immediately but suddenly, one day, he came up to her and said, "I don't know you, but you have pretty eyes."
She said nothing and simply looked away, smiling, blushing and blissfully happy.

They became friends. Over the years, their friendship grew stronger and stronger. They were bigger than any force in the world. Nothing could bring them down or apart. And as time went by, they fell in love. Such a strong, powerful love that cannot be defined and the mere touch of its beauty can take you away to a world, unknown, unheard, pure, serene, holy.

Then one beautiful day, he popped the question, "Will you marry me?" There were no words except for a loud and joy filled, almost ecstatic "YES!"

A few days before their marriage, she gets a call from the City Hospital informing her that he is in a critical condition. She held back her tears, her emotions, everything and rushed out to meet him. On reaching the hospital, everyone pointed to the ICU room with helpless emptiness in their eyes.

She entered very slowly, fearing the worst and with a million thoughts spinning through her head. She felt so nauseous she thought she would faint at that very moment. But she kept her calm, and with shaky-steady feet walked in.

He was there, lying on the bed. Motionless, as if someone had pressed the pause button as in a dreadful dream but the constant beeps of the numerous machines attached to him reminded her that all this was real.
She went closer to him, very very gently held his hand and whispered, "Please..." and almost broke into tears.

That's when his eyelids moved briefly, slowly opening his eyes he stared blankly at her. He had forgotten her, himself and everything he had known. His eyes were hollow with no knowledge of his own being.

She hoped and prayed that he would be okay, but in this condition ?
He drew closer to her and with the awfully faint voice he could manage to bring out he whispered, "I don't know you, but you have pretty eyes."
